Zambian President to receive full support from Dr. Mahtani

The President of Zambia made a bold statement recently. President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema announced on ‘Africa Day’ that he plans to abolish the death penalty row. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted businessman and philanthropist from Zambia, extended his complete support to this announcement. Dr.Rajan Mahtani is a known charity worker from Zambia and is known for several philanthropic contributions across Zambia and Africa. Recently, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was invited to the FIN roundtable conference as an honorary speaker. At this conference, Dr. Mahtani was also selected for one of the awards. Forbes recognized the contributions of Dr. Rajan Mahtani towards the banking sector of Zambia and conferred Dr. Rajan Mahtani with Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year 2021. Dr. Rajan Mahtani received the award for his corporate as well as philanthropic contributions. Apart from his corporate contributions, Dr. Mahtani is also known for his philanthropic and charitable contributions. Some of these philanthropic contributions are Prison Fellowship Zambia and the Stephen Malama award and scholarship for top law graduates in Zambia. Prison Fellowship Zambia is a notable Christian Outreach Program that works towards bringing the teachings of Jesus Christ to the prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families in Zambia. Dr. Rajan Mahtani stated that his company Prison Fellowship will provide full legal and regulatory support towards ensuring that the announcement becomes a reality soon.

Dr.Rajan Mahtani added voice to the decision made by the Zambian President and argued that only a person who is compassionate and respects fundamental human rights and dignity can make such bold yet right decisions. He also stated that while several other previous Presidents have strategically avoided the death penalty or capital punishment, very few of them have actually worked towards removing the issue from its core by abolishing the law completely. There is widespread support for the abolishment of the death penalty across the globe with major global organizations supporting this abolishment. As such, the decision is a step in the right direction.
