Announcement from President Hakainde receives critical acclaim

On the special occasion of Africa Day, President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema announced his quest towards abolishing the death penalty row. According to Dr. Rajan Mahtani, it is an archaic law that is inhumane, degrading, and cruel. As such, the decision from the Zambian President was a step in the right direction. Dr. Rajan Mahtani also praised the decision from the Zambian President by stating that only an individual who is truthful, respects the right to live, respects the rule of law as well as respects fundamental human rights and fundamental human dignity will be able to make such bold and rightful decision. At the same time, Dr. Rajan Mahtani also stated that there is a significant difference between making such announcements and ensuring that these announcements become a reality. As such, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani has extended his support to make this announcement a reality. Dr. Mahtani will provide legal and regulatory support to the Zambian President’s decision via his company prison fellowship in Zambia.

Prison Fellowship focuses on establishing transparent criminal justice for patients, ensuring they are not devoid of fundamental human rights and basic human dignity. Prison Fellowship also focuses on bringing the teachings of Jesus Christ to the prisoners. As such, the present announcement by the Zambian President aligns with the objectives and goals of the Prison Fellowship.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani, while praising the announcement by the Zambian President, also stated that there is a significant awareness across the globe regarding abolishing the death penalty and this trend can be seen across Zambia too. Past presidents have avoided giving capital punishments tactically and the move from the current Zambian President is a step in the right direction.
