His institutions such as Portland Cement Zambia and Finance Bank are among the most profitable as well as most repute businesses in Zambia. He has also been associated with many charitable and developmental works for uplifting the economic and social status of various communities across Zambia.

Just like his popularity among industrialists and commoners alike, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has also amassed a bunch of conspirators who have developed jealously and hatred towards Dr. Mahtani and his associations, mainly due to his growing prosperity and popularity. These conspirators have been unsuccessfully trying to vilify Dr. Mahtani’s image by promoting false news or negative campaigns to discredit him. Over the years, many conspiracy theories related to either Dr. Rajan Mahtani or one of more of his associations have surfaced across media. All these theories were successfully dismissed after creating small ruckuses and gaining momentary media attention. The verdict of the case between Finance Bank Zambia and Simaata Simaata was recently announced by Supreme Court judged. Simaata was proved guilty of charges and was asked to compensate for the damage done.
