Zambezi Portland Cement Factory, then and now

The people of Zambia and all around Africa have often expressed their blunt feelings for the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory because it never remained in the news or showed any big developments. However, with the New Year there has been a turnaround for this factory as it has produced one of the best results for heavy scale factories in Africa. As per confirmed reports, ZPC has registered an annual production of 4, 73, 985 tonnes of cement in 2014. The figure indicates achieving 130% of the forecasted output.

Situated in Ndola, ZPC has always remained passive with its contributions. It contributes at a large scale, but never comes to the limelight because it is confined to supplying materials in construction projects. Exceptionally, this time its contribution has been so bog that it is bound to make a big news. The installed capacity of ZPC on annual capacity is around 3, 60, 000 tonnes along with a daily production potential of 1000 tonnes. This time around the same has been achieved with ease.

The production expanded because of the Ndola Housing Project that focused upon building 71 new houses for the people of Ndola who had lost their existing home. Additionally, the production of ZPC takes quality control seriously and has a ZS ISO 9001:2008 certification, which comes from the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS). The recent success has also motivated Dr. Rajan Mahtani to invest in Masaiti by way of constructing a new lime plant in the next 24 months.

**Update**

The Zambezi Portland Cement Factory is now being managed by the minority shareholders, the Ventriglias. They took over the management of the company on April 7, 2015 by force and since then,  the situation has degraded continuously. According to the workers, the working conditions have degraded and they are not being paid for their hard work. The factory which had once shown promising result is now at the mercy of the Italian Mafias.

Success and growth comes again to Zambezi Portland with ISO certification

With the advent of the New Year 2015, the Zambian citizens have been observing numerous positive events. One common thread linking all these events is Dr. Rajan Mahtani, who owns the FBZ (Finance Bank of Zambia) as well as the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory. While the FBZ recently tested success when FBZ was made public and granted stock trading options, another auspicious event occurred on Thursday, 15th Jan for the Zambezi Portland when it was awarded the ISO (International Standard Organization) 9001:2008 certifications for the quality management process. Zambezi Portland Cement 2015Dr. Rajan Mahtani commenting on the event said that the ISO certification will help in expanding the firm’s global as well as regional business opportunities. He also stated that the certification will aid in better planning and execution of strategies and operational processes.

The event was lauded by the Chairperson of the ZABS, David Nawa. According to him, the certification was an accomplishment for both ZPC and his institution.

With the certification, Dr. Mahtani also announced ERP for its business. ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is a strategic business practice that will ensure the ZPC’s internal as well as external information management is well integrated and operational cycle is minimized effectively. With these developments, it can be said that the Portland Factory will achieve new heights in coming future.

Masaiti bows to Zambezi Portland Cement Factory – 2015

The Zambezi Portland Cement Factory is offering an impressive result in Masaiti, Africa. Dr. Scott, the Acting President, has sanctioned US $ 2 million for the development of Masaiti and most of the activities is being hosted by Zambezi Portland Cement.

The industrial activities in Masaiti is growing at a rapid pace and therefore, it had become necessary to vacate residential lands of the locals to replace the same with better infrastructure. Dr. Rajan Mahtani least bothered about Presidential Election Results- 2015

The Presidential Election result in Zambia is due on January 20, 2015. This day will decide the fate of Zambia’s development as the new President of Zambia will preside over his seat. However, an unexpected news that came to limelight was that Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s empire was at stake in this election. According to an article published on an infamous Zambian news portal, it is being said that if Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s party doesn’t win this election then Dr. Mahtani can face some stringent tax evasion cases.

The news has come as a shock for most of the people in Zambia as they were not expected a conspiracy in the midst of a political havoc. Nevertheless, the conspirators did manage to create a news that was as fake as their own words. This is not the first time when something like this has happened. The year 2014 has already witnessed some similar shameful events.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the Chairman of Finance Bank Zambia and the owner of the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory. It is totally absurd to connect a businessman to politics. Being an iconic figure in Zambia, business and development of Zambia attract Dr. Mahtani. All other areas are of lesser priority to him. His faith in Christianity and Biblical Principles has made him a man whose only motive is to develop Zambia and help the poor. Least interested in politics, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has never shown any interest towards either joining politics or supporting any party. Recently, his bank has opened a new branch in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi.
